Q. How long have you guys been offering your Lease Kit?
A. Since 1995 when it started as a simple set of lease payment tables for "math-challenged" people. Since then, it has seen many added features and hundreds of information updates. It has been used by thousands and thousands of people, and is used by about 300 users each day. Many customers tell us that they are using their now-updated Lease Kit for their second, third, and sometimes fourth car leases over the years.
Q. How long do I have to wait for my Lease Kit after I order?
A. You get immediate access using a registration code provided to you when you order. There is nothing to download or install, or be shipped to you. New PayPal users may experience a short delay in receiving your registration code.
Q. Is the Lease Kit a book and will it be shipped to me?
A. No, it is not a book. The Lease Kit is a set of unique database-driven interactive online leasing tools and calculators, meaning that you use it through your computer's Internet browser and there is nothing that needs to be mailed to you, downloaded, or installed.
Q. Can I use the Lease Kit on my Apple Mac computer? On my iPhone or iPad? On my smartphone?
A. Yes. You can use the Lease Kit on any computer or device that has Internet access.
Q. Is my personal and credit card information safe?
A. Yes. Q. How often is the Lease Kit updated and will I be notified?
A. The Lease Kit is updated as often as necessary to make sure the Lease Kit database and features are up-to-date. This usually means about one update per month. However, more frequent major updates occur in the Fall of the year as new models are being introduced by car manufacturers. Each time the Lease Kit is accessed, any new updates are automatically applied, without any action by the user. It would be impractical for us to attempt to notify our existing customers every time the Kit is updated.
Q. What if the Lease Kit is updated, what do I have to do?
A. Nothing. Each time you access your Lease Kit, you automatically get the latest version and updates. There's no need to order or pay for new updates.
Q. Why don't I need my registration code when I use my Lease Kit?
A. You enter it the first time you access your Kit. It's then saved on your PC's hard drive and retrieved automatically each time you access your Kit after that. If your computer crashes or you change computers, you'll have to enter your code again.
Q. Will the Lease Kit run on my Apple Mac/Linux/WebTV machine?
A. Yes, you access the Lease Kit through your normal web browser on your computer. So if you're reading this web page, you'll have no problem with the Lease Kit.
Q. Does the Lease Kit cover used-car leases?
A. Yes and no. It's not specifically designed for used-car leases, although most of its features work for both new and used leases. Primary exceptions are the Lease Evaluator and Lease Inspector. Used-car leases are almost impossible to evaluate accurately due to the number of variable factors involved.
Q. Does the Lease Kit cover all new vehicle makes and models?
A. Yes, but sometimes it may take a short time for a recently introduced new model to be included. Check here for your vehicle before you order just to make sure.
Q. How is the Lease Kit different from the Lease Guide?
A. The Lease Kit is designed as a companion to our free Lease Guide. It provides leasing aids, special calculators, worksheets, checklists, and guides that help you in real lease situations. The Lease Guide is like a book; the Lease Kit contains the tools that enables you make practical use of the information in that book.
Q. What does the Lease Kit cost?
A. The Lease Kit is very reasonably priced at $19.95, which is really an investment, not a cost, because it pays you back the amount you invest, plus more, after you've used it. Considering that it can save hundreds, even thousands, of dollars, not to mention a lot of stress; it's a very good investment.
Q. I would like to put the Lease Kit on my laptop computer and take it with me on dealer visits. Can I do it?
A. No, not quite like that. The Lease Kit is not downloaded or installed software. The Lease Kit runs on our online web servers where the data resides and you access it on the Internet with your Internet browser on your computer or smartphone. Many dealers have free WiFi service that you use to access the Lease Kit on the Internet. See the next Q&A below.
Q. Can I access your Lease Guide and Lease Kit on my cell phone or laptop computer? On my Apple Mac, Apple iPhone or iPod Touch or iPad? On my Blackberry?
A. Yes, if your cell phone is a "smart phone" with a Web browser that allows you to access Web sites. Both the Lease Guide and the Lease Kit are simply interactive Web pages that can be used with any computer, smartphone, or device that can access the Internet either through a wired connection, WiFi, or cell phone service.
Q. What's the difference between the Evaluator and the Inspector in your Lease Kit?
A. The Evaluator evaluates a lease deal you may see in a newspaper, on TV, or be offered by a dealer — where you have very few details about the lease. It also will tell you what monthly payment amount would be considered a good deal for any vehicle make/model. The Inspector is used to analyze a lease deal where you have all the details right from the lease contract form. It is typically used after the deal is done when the customer is curious (or suspicious) about the deal. It will tell you how good — or bad — the deal was and whether the payment was calculated honestly and correctly.
Q. Does the Lease Kit include vehicle MSRP and invoice prices?
A. No. You can find these prices free on a number of well-known automotive web sites on the Internet. There's no need to duplicate that information.
Q. You provide a Sample Lease Contract in your Lease Kit. Can I print it out and use it as a blank leasing contract form?
A. No. The sample form is for educational purposes only. It is not meant as a way to create and print your own blank leasing forms. State leasing laws vary and there is no "standard" lease form. See a business attorney if you need a form for your own use.
Q. Will the Lease Termination Guide in the Kit really tell me how to end my lease?
A. Yes, but every lease situation is different and the best solution for one situation will not be good for another. Therefore, this guide presents you will all possible options and tells you how to determine which is best for your particular lease situation.
Q. Why is the Lease-End Advisor important?
A. Most people know they must prepare and do some homework before they lease, but overlook the fact that it's just as important to be smart about the end of a lease. For example, an astounding number of people return cars to lease companies, when the cars have recoverable equity value. Likewise, many people decide to buy their leased cars and overpay. The Advisor explains all options, provides examples, and tells how to choose the right option.
Q. What's the benefit of the Lease Guide eBook that is included in the Lease Kit?
A. It's the same information as in the fifteen-part Lease Guide articles on our web site, but in a single document, like a book. This makes it not only easier to read, but because it can be easily printed, it's also more convenient for off-line reading and sharing with others.
Q. Why is the Contract Checklist so important?
A. There's a common misconception that consumers have 3 days to cancel a car purchase or lease. The confusion comes from a similar law that applies only to door-to-door sales and health club contracts — not to automobiles. Therefore, if you don't spot and fix mistakes and problems in your lease contract before you sign, you're obligated to live with those problems for the entire term of your lease. Q. Does the Lease Kit work for 
Canadian leases?
A. Yes, although some car models that are only sold in Canada and not the US, such as the Acura EL, are not included. Regarding the Lease Evaluator and Lease Inspector calculators, if Canadian dollars are used as input, the output wiil also be Canadian dollars, although you will have convert kilometers to miles in some cases. The lease payment formula and leasing rules are the same in the U.S. and Canada.
Q. Does the Lease Kit work for leases in countries other than the U.S. and Canada?
A. No. It may be that some other countries have similar leasing rules and methods of calculation, but we can't guarantee that the Lease Kit will work for any countries other than the U.S. and Canada.
Q. Do I have to enter my registration code each time I use my Lease Kit?
A. No, when you enter your registration code for the first time, it's saved on your PC's hard drive. Each time you access your Lease Kit afterwards, the code is retrieved from your hard drive. If you ever lose the data on your hard drive, or get a new PC, you'll have to enter the code again. This is the reason it is important that you remember your code.
